Environmental Law Environmental law is an interdisciplinary topic and overlaps with many other areas of research such as economics, political science, and ecology. Environmental regulation addresses a range of problems such as air, water and noise pollution and deals with issues arising out of waste management, sustainable development, planning and development, environmental prosecutions and defences, and liability of officers and directors. In Canada, various levels of government share the constitutional authority over the regulation and management of environment. CanadaCommissioner of the Environment This Federal government website provides full-text annual reports to the House of Commons, the Auditor General Act and links to environment and sustainable development websites. The Canadian Environmental Assessment Agency Includes legislation, cabinet directives, federal-provincial environmental assessment agreeements, guidelines and orders as well as the Federal Environmental Assessment index. Provides useful links to provincial governments, organizations, and universities within Canada and internationally. The Canadian Institute of Resources Law (CIRL) Focuses on research, education, and publications on Canadian law relating to renewable and non-renewable natural resources. Related Internet links provide access to resources on such topics as aboriginal issues, atomic energy, federal and provincial government departments, territorial government departments and tribunals, energy, environment, forestry, mining, natural resources, public utilities, sustainable development, water and wildlife. Diane Saxe : Environment Canada and ADR Site Provides access to environmental resources in Canada and around the world, including legal and alternative dispute resolution resources on the Web. West Coast Environmental Law Web Site and Library Focuses on standards and objectives that will ensure the maintenance of environmental public interest law for British Columbia. Publishes News from West Coast Environmental Law that examines topical environmental legal issues, reviews recent work of WCEL, reports on activities of the Environmental Dispute Resolution Fund, and looks at recent case law and new publications of interest.
