What are infoEXPRESS' hours of operation?
infoEXPRESS requests are processed year-round Monday through Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., except for statutory holidays and university closures.

How do I submit a request?
Please send us your requests in writing, via e-mail to law.infoEXPRESS@utoronto.ca. Include as much citation information as possible, to allow us to identify immediately the materials you require.
How long does it take to receive a requested item?
For requests up to three items, we will do everything in our power to provide you with requested materials within one to three business days. However, response time may vary depending on the availability of the item. For example, items that need to be searched, recalled or borrowed through interlibrary loan may take longer. We will notify you if we are not able to provide you with material within three business days and continually update you on our efforts to retrieve your requested item.
When you send a list (more than three items) of requests to infoEXPRESS, we will deliver the materials to you as we retrieve them. You should allow at least two weeks for us to complete all of the items on the list.
Will infoEXPRESS go to other libraries to retrieve materials for me?
Yes! We will retrieve materials from other libraries on this campus, from other U of T campuses, or from other libraries around the world (via interlibrary loan); however, we are unable to borrow books from their special collections (i.e., short term loan, reference, rare books).
Whom should I contact to check the status of a request or report a problem?
Please contact Sooin Kim via e-mail to law.infoexpress@utoronto.ca.
In which format will I receive my items?
If the item you request is available electronically to the law school or University of Toronto community, we will send you the items as an e-mail attachment or on a CD ROM. Otherwise the items will be delivered to you in hard copy
How are items delivered to me?
infoEXPRESS’ daily delivery round starts at 2 p.m., Monday through Friday. We will knock on your door; if you are not in your office, we will unlock the door and place materials on your office chair. Only Library staff members will enter your office; student workers are not permitted to make office deliveries.
How do I request copies of new acquisitions?
The new acquisitions are now displayed in the "New Arrivals" section on the main floor of the Library. Simply fill out the copy request slips and copies of the items you request will be delivered to your office via the infoEXPRESS.
Alternatively, featured selections of the Library’s new acquisitions are published in our electronic newsletter “infoEXPRESS Current” and e-mailed to the Faculty members each month. Archived copies of the newsletter “infoEXPRESS Current” may be accessed at: http://www.law-lib2.utoronto.ca/Ic_archive/ic_archive_index.html If you would like to see any featured items, past or present, please send an e-mail to law.infoEXPRESS@utoronto.ca
Should I now use infoEXPRESS to copy items for my casebook?
Please continue to use student casebook assistants for your regular casebook needs.
May my student research assistant use infoEXPRESS on my behalf?
Research assistants may not forward requests to infoEXPRESS on your behalf. infoEXPRESS is a personal service intended exclusively for Faculty. We must receive an e-mail request directly from a Faculty member. Research assistants are responsible for retrieving and copying materials, and submitting interlibrary loan requests on their own, outside of the infoEXPRESS system.
How do I return borrowed books and interlibrary loan materials that infoEXPRESS delivers to me? All Materials borrowed for you from any library may be returned in several ways:
(1) You may give materials to the infoEXPRESS staff person making deliveries. For your convenience, during the delivery run each business day, infoEXPRESS will stop at each faculty office floor in Flavelle and Falconer and sound a bell;
(2) You may return materials to the Faculty Drop Boxes located in Falconer and Flavelle; or
(3) You may return materials to Law Library.
Can infoEXPRESS alert me to an approaching due date?
Yes! You will receive e-mail notices regarding due dates for materials borrowed from U of T Libraries, and recall material notices from the central library system. For upcoming due dates for interlibrary loan items, you will receive e-mail reminders from the Law Library. If you have interlibrary loan material that is overdue, you will receive "pink slips". To foster efficient lending/borrowing relationships with other libraries, it is essential to return borrowed material on time.
Is it possible to request materials to be delivered to me at a future date?
Yes! Upon request, we can provide you with special purple infoEXPRESS book flags. Please fill out the information requested on the flag. Don’t forget to include the title of the book. If the book is not available at that time, we will notify you and set in motion the process to retrieve it.
Gosh, is there anything infoEXPRESS won't do for me? There are two things infoEXPRESS cannot do:
-
infoEXPRESS cannot violate copyright laws. In general, we are unable to copy more than 10% of an entire item. If one of your requests raises a copyright concern, we will contact you to work out a satisfactory solution.
-
infoEXPRESS cannot purchase materials on your behalf. However, we are happy to provide you with the information necessary for you to order these materials yourself.
This guide provides all the information you need to get started using infoEXPRESS. If you have further questions or suggestions, please feel free to contact Sooin Kim or Sufei Xu at law.infoexpress@utoronto.ca.
